I think I have a little soft spot for March because it’s always the month I really feel the start of a year. I know it’s the third month in but it leads to lighter mornings and longer days so it really feels like Spring is nearly upon us.
At the beginning of the year I am never ready for the spring and summer to kick in because let’s face it time passes far too quickly and before we know it it’ll be spring then summer the autumn and then we’ll be back to wrapping ourselves up for winter. However by the time it reaches March I feel more prepared and ready for Spring and I actually end up really looking forward to it.
So to start off I love March because it is the beginning of Spring in my eyes and means lighter and longer days that instantly lifts my mood. As much as there are parts about winter I love I am also pretty sure that winter negatively impacts my overall mood with the dark nights etc, so I really look forward to the lighter days.
For the past couple of years March tends to be when I’ll have my first holiday of the year and as I’m writing this on 29th January I am pretty sure this is going to be the case this year too with a return trip to Copenhagen with friends scheduled for the first weekend in March.
March is also the start of all my friends birthdays kicking off with one friend being at the start and another being at the end so this also means that March is a time I can focus on spending time with my friends a bit more since I will be the first to admit that I sometimes let real life get in the way of this more often than I should.
This year I also have a show to look forward to at the Edinburgh Playhouse. Getting to see Hairspray for the first time with my mum and dad! Seems to becoming a more regular thing with seeing a show with them now at least once a year but I’m not going to complain about seeing a fun show after going for dinner. So that should be a fun day because just like with my friends I really appreciate having the chance to spend time with my family.
Also have the bonus this year of an extra day off work because Easter is earlier this year!
What does everyone else enjoy about March?
